2.5D vs 3D - Eiger Screen Protectors

2.5D vs 3D - Eiger Screen Protectors

Introduction

Ever wondered what the difference is between 2.5D and 3D tempered glass screen protectors? In this article we will discuss the difference between the two cover finishes featured in our EIGER screen protectors to help you decide which better suits your needs.

2.5D Curve Screen Protectors

The EIGER GLASS 2.5D screen protectors are crafted from high-quality tempered glass and deliver maximum scratch and shock protection for your device.

The glass covers the flat area of the screen only with a slight curvature towards the edges. For phone models that have a flat screen the 2.5D protector is ideal for protecting the display e.g. Samsung S21+, S21+ 5G, S20 FE 5G, S10e, S10 Lite, A51 5G, M51, as well as the entire iPhone range. Furthermore, all 2.5D screen protectors are case friendly so you can add one of our phone cases to fully protect your device.

On the other hand, as they only protect the flat area of a phone screen, it means 2.5D screen protectors are not compatible with curved screen phone models. Therefore they are seen as less protective when compared to the 3D protector which offers full screen coverage.

Our 2.5D screen protectors incorporate high viscosity Full Glue technology for strong adhesion which allows a perfect fit between the glass and screen, preventing lifting and bubbles, with full touch sensitivity.

3D Screen Protectors

The 3D GLASS Screen Protectors offer the same high-quality materials and protection as the standard GLASS range but use a special process, enabling them to be curved to match the device’s screen they are protecting.

Phone models that feature a fully flat screen, such as the entire iPhone range, receive 100% edge to edge screen coverage and fully rounded edges. In addition, unlike most other screen protectors, the 3D GLASS screen foil features an Anti-dust layer which prevents the edges from lifting. These screen protectors are compatible with most cases for all round phone protection.

Our flat screen 3D screen protectors incorporate high viscosity Full Glue technology for strong adhesion which allows a perfect fit between the glass and screen, preventing lifting and bubbles, with full touch sensitivity.

Alternatively, for phone models that feature a curved screen, the 2.5D screen protector will not be compatible. For these devices, we recommend our 3D screen protectors which have edge to edge screen protection.

A 3D screen protector generally refers to a obviously curved design in the middle or at the edges. It offers all-round protection to prevent your phone screen from scratches and ensure it not easily to break while maintain a smooth and naked screen experience.

Curved displays are available on Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, Note10, Note10+, S10, S10+, Note 9, S9, S9+, Note8, S8, S8+, S7 edge, S6 edge+, and S6 edge.

However, for some curved screens, the curved screen protector means that some cases won’t be compatible. To solve this problem we have a case friendly version for these models, which has a slightly smaller cut to ensure a case can be used.

We have discussed that our 2.5D and flat screen 3D screen protectors incorporate full glue technology to ensure a perfect fit. Alternatively, for curved devices, our 3D screen protectors incorporate edge glue technology. This is to reduce the chance of bubbling under the protector caused from having a curved screen.
